ORC Week 5 | Walls walls walls

During this week of the spring 2021 One Room Challenge, my office finally started looking like some real work is being done! Isn’t it incredible how much prep work and planning goes into a room transformation?! And even when you start doing the work of transforming the space, it can be a little while before it looks like anything is really changing.

So what made the difference this week? I finally painted the room!

For the past several years, this space has been a dark green. It wasn’t my favorite shade of green, that’s for sure, but this was my husband’s space and he liked it. #happyspousehappyhouse Going from a dark green to a pure white has made an immense difference in the way the room looks (obviously), the lighting and the general vibe of the room.

I am definitely happy with the result and now I really can’t wait to get the black picture frame molding put up! Especially since I used blue painter’s tape to mark out the size of the frames on each wall. It’s going to be classic and high contrast which is right up my alley!

The other big news of the week was that my wallpaper was delivered! It’s even more incredible than I expected. The heads of the tulips are as big as my hands and the colorful petals on the black background is definitely the kind of drama I need in my life.

The last exciting thing that happened this week was that I got over my fear of committing to a light fixture and order a new ceiling light! If you voted in my Insta Story poll, thanks for the push! I’m going to keep which one I picked a secret for now but in case you didn’t catch that story or aren’t following me on the ‘Gram (gasp!), here are the two options I narrowed it down to. Which is your favorite?

My goal for this upcoming week is to paint and install the trim and get the wallpaper up. It also looks like the unusual amount of rain we’ve been getting for the past few weeks is finally going to let up so fingers crossed I can start staining the built-in, too.

From here on out, the changes are going real and visible and I’m beyond excited for the final reveal. Be sure to check out what the featured designers and other guest participants are working on! We’re getting so close to the end and it will be reveal day before you know it!
